XMPP: Jitsi client goes instantly offline while receiving a file transfer request of an Ubuntu Empathy client

                 Key: JITSI-935
                 URL: http://java.net/jira/browse/JITSI-935
             Project: jitsi
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: current
Environment: The Empathy client (v2.30.3) runs on an Ubuntu 10.04 box and the Jitsi client (Build 3443) was running on a Windows 7 box and for verification on the same Ubuntu box as well.
            Reporter: tarisg

I tried to send a file from the preinstalled Empathy client to a Windows (and later Ubuntu) Jitsi client. As soon as the Jitsi client receives the transfer request it instantly goes offline. The receiving user has no chance to counteract or accept the transfer. It does not crahs - it simpy goes offline. As soon as the contact is back online the Empathy client is able to send him into offline mode again by simply sending any file.

The following error ("Unparseable date") occured on the Ubuntu Jitsi client:

java.text.ParseException: Unparseable date: "2011-04-27T06:46:47Z"
 	at java.text.DateFormat.parse(DateFormat.java:337)
 	at org.jivesoftware.smack.PacketReader.parsePackets(PacketReader.java:229)
 	at org.jivesoftware.smack.PacketReader.access$000(PacketReader.java:43)
 	at org.jivesoftware.smack.PacketReader$1.run(PacketReader.java:70)
 09:10:14.235 SCHWERWIEGEND:
 connectionClosedOnError Unparseable date: "2011-04-27T06:46:47Z"

When the Jitsi client tries to send a file then it tells its user that it is waiting for the Empathy client to accept the transfer. But the Empathy client does not recognize any transfer attempt. That way it is not possible to send files at all and even sending any jitsi client into offline mode (file-transfer-of-death) :)
